What is a "FAM Trip"? FAM is short for "familiarization" which is travel offered to travel professionals at a reduced rate so they can inspect hotels and restaurants, sample the attractions, and have a chance to experience the local culture. This is one of the many "perks" available to travel industry personnel. This has been a long standing tradition in the Travel Industry. Some FAM's have restrictions, and some are extremely limited. Generally all FAM's are open to full time Travel Agents, and if you work as a home-based travel agent, most of these FAM opportunities are also available to you.
